Summary of the AGM is as follows:
Minutes of the 2022 AGM and the treasurers report were approved and all matters arising from the last AGM (3) were confirmed as having been completed.
The committee detailed the key achievements. Most notably, major progress had been made in reducing ASB; primarily down to our committee member Mick Confrey working tirelessly with the local police and encouraging residents to report incidents as this drives action by the police. Additionally, on Planning, the committee had been pro-active in working with Blue Oak developments (Centurion House) to address various resident concerns around rough sleeping and physical deterioration of the area. On the Events front, whilst we had delivered two events (Carol concert, Coronation quiz) the summer street party had to be cancelled due to inclement weather.
For 2024 the committee was endeavouring to find ways of improving Communication and Engagement with residents and to develop events that widened participation and were affordable.
The AGM saw another brief “history” talk by Tony Barcroft; this time on cellars, which was well received.
Issues raised by residents at the meeting for consideration by the committee in 2024 were the proliferation of AirBNB properties in the area (and the impact on residents parking), residents parking in general (difficulty in finding a space), lack of lighting in the pocket park next to water tower street (encourages drug ASB), and for the committee to engage more with our new councillor Katrina Kerr.
