KSARA

Bringing neighbours together

Committee Meeting 14/08/2023

Highlights from the August meeting of the KSARA Committee
Key things to report were:

1. Drug dealing: There has been a positive response from the police to our complaints of drug dealing in and around King Street. During August, there has been a noticeable presence of uniformed officers patrolling the streets, carrying out stop searches and engaging with residents. (We are told that plain clothes officers were around as well but obviously less visible!). Residents are still encouraged to keep reporting all incidents to the police via 101 or 999 as appropriate.

2. Centurion House. Following some frank discussions, Blueoak Estates have committed to improving engagement with residents as the development proceeds. The property has now been secured from entry by rough sleepers. We have been assured that an electrician will attend shortly to look at reinstating the street lighting and that they are speaking with a landscaping contractor to attend to weed spraying and cut back of vegetation. We are still seeking clarity about when / how they intend to address the more substantive maintenance issues (poor condition of steps, loose paving slabs) but, overall, we are making progress.

Since the KSARA meeting, Blueoak have submitted a new planning application with a modified floor plan to address the issues of lack of natural light in some of the apartments. You can view this on the CWAC Planning Portal (Reference 23/02537/PMA). The closing date for comments is 16 September 2023.
